What is Invisalign?

What is the treatment process?

Before the plates are produced, a digital scan is carried out with the iTero Element 2 (Invisalign’s original 3D scanning product) in our clinic. Our specialist orthodontist determines the duration and number of plates required for the treatment.

Oral measurements are taken, and these are transferred to the Invisalign partner laboratory. Tooth movements are examined using simulation techniques, and transparent plates are produced for each 0.5 mm movement. Once the Invisalign treatment has been completed, wires are attached to the inside of your teeth. However, these wires are quite thin and small, and cannot be seen from the outside.

What are the features of Invisalign?

• Invisalign must be worn for 20 hours a day. The removable plates make it very easy to use in everyday life.
• It is easy to clean. Invisalign can be cleaned during the day with water and a toothbrush.
• Invisalign has no negative effect on speech. A process of familiarisation may be necessary for the first few days, but thereafter the plates do not cause any discomfort.
• Eating and drinking are no problem. You can easily remove the plates during meals.
• Plates also have the advantage of being very painless compared with metal braces.

How long does the treatment last?

You only need to visit our clinic once to obtain the treatment plan and 3D digital scan. Then, either we ship the plates to your country, or you collect your plates from our clinic within 2 or 3 days once they have been prepared.

The duration of the treatment itself depends on the structure and position of the teeth. Our specialist will determine the duration of the treatment, and the plates will be prepared accordingly. But it’s fair to say that 60% of treatments are completed within 3 to 12 months.
