What is a nose job?

Nose reconstruction in Tunisia is an operation designed to straighten, reshape or open up the nasal passages. Our surgical team generally recommends the following measures (depending on each individual case):

  • Removal of the bump on the bridge of the nose
  • Narrowing the nose
  • Refining or reshaping the tip of the nose
  • Correction of a deviated septum (cartilage separating the two nasal passages).
  • Many features of the nose can be corrected to make it more attractive.
  • Please note that our surgeons prefer a limited approach, as it gives more natural results.

Types of surgery

Nose tip surgery – our Tunisian surgeons perform this procedure when corrections are needed to the tip of the nose. The surgery can shorten it, narrow it or both.

Septoplasty helps the nose to breathe by straightening the cartilage (nasal septum). The external appearance of the nose is not altered during this procedure.

Rhinoseptoplasty – combines surgery of both the nose and the nasal septum. The deviation of the nasal septum is corrected, as is the appearance of the nose.

Procedure

Nose reconstruction in Tunisia is most often performed under narcosis (although intravenous anaesthesia is sometimes possible). It can be performed at the same time as other facial cosmetic procedures. In general, nose operations last 1 to 2 hours and patients must be hospitalised (1 night).

The procedure involves making incisions inside the nose or small cuts next to it. However, the resulting scars are invisible or barely visible.

Surgery: the skin is separated from the supporting bone or cartilage, which is then reshaped. The skin’s natural elasticity allows it to assume its new position. The operation ends with the fitting of a small splint over the nose to support it and reduce swelling. Gauze may be used to stop any bleeding. This is removed after 1 or 2 days.

Once discharged from hospital, the patient can recuperate at the hotel. The recommended stay in Tunisia is 5 to 10 days (until the splint is removed). The stitches remain in place for approximately 10 days.

After the operation, swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes can be expected for several weeks (and up to 6 months for them to disappear completely). There may also be a temporary loss of feeling or smell. However, these sensations generally return gradually during this period.

Depending onthe result: to correct minor irregularities, a second revision operation may be necessary. In rare cases, infection or haemorrhage may delay healing or cause scarring.

Patients with thick or oily skin on the nose may be less suitable candidates for surgery. Please contact us to schedule a free consultation and get recommendations for you.
