Pre-operative consultation

• Listens to and answers all the patient’s questions;
• Establishes a diagnosis and an action plan based on what can and cannot be done;
• Inform the patient of the procedure, the instructions and the risks associated with the operation.

Communication is fundamental during this initial interview, as it will determine how smoothly the rest of the procedure runs.

The day of the operation

The date has been set and the big day has arrived. The patient is invited to go to the Tunisian hospital selected. The team of medical staff welcome them and make sure that everything goes smoothly before they enter the operating theatre.

Duration of the operation

The operation is always performed under general anaesthetic and lasts an average of 2 hours. However, the duration may be shorter or longer, depending on the amount of excess fat to be removed.

Internal thigh lift

For an internal thigh lift, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the crease between the perineum and the thigh before proceeding with the lift and liposuction. This procedure only tightens the skin of the upper and inner thigh.

What precautions should I take after a thigh lift in Tunisia?

Before

• Stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs 10 days before the operation;
• Stop smoking 10 days before the operation;
• Weight must be stable in the six months preceding the operation;
• Body mass index must be less than or equal to 30 kg/m2.

After

After the operation, there are a few guidelines to follow:

• Do not resume physical activity for 1 month. Subject to healing problems;
• Scars should be cleaned daily with soap, before being carefully dried with a clean towel;
• A preventive anticoagulant is prescribed, as well as the wearing of support socks. A preventive anticoagulant is prescribed, and compression socks must be worn for a fortnight after discharge to limit the risk of phlebitis and pulmonary embolism;
• Take at least 2 weeks off work;
• Sun protection on scars is compulsory for one year after surgery.
